Senior Architect

RC Architecture, Bengaluru, India

2015 - 2020

Worked with this award-winning firm on both government and private projects of institutional, commercial, residential, assembly and hospitality typologies of budgets up to 1.5 billion INR. As project architect working with a team, I reported directly to the Directors of the firm and was involved in major decision making of the project.
Managed a multi storey residential tower of half a million square feet area, with a team of two juniors, through conceptual design, detail drawings, consultant co-ordination, review, material specification and site visits. Steered the project within restricted timelines by reviewing building codes, bye laws, contract documents and stakeholder meetings.
Due diligence for a multi-national corporate client for refurbishment and interior work of an existing structure of 20,000 square feet to industrial use. Worked closely with the project management team to deliver the project execution within 90 days.
Adopted BIM on a premium residential tower project of 70,000 square feet for architectural, structural and quantification, transitioning from CAD to Revit.
I also worked on concept design, feasibility studies, presentation drawings and capability presentations for project pitches.

• 51,200 sqft Office building in Muscat: Worked on approval drawings, prepared working and detail drawings, coordinated with structural and service consultants and researched and made a presentation of materials and finishes. (Duration- 4 months).

• 1.3 million sqft Multi-storey Ladies Hostel in B.S.A.R. University Campus, Chennai : As Project Architect, my core contribution was the design of interior spaces, resolving the façade pattern, finalizing finishing materials, resolving space program and circulation cost analyzing of materials, interaction with relevant consultants and weekly site visits. I was the point person in liaising with site engineers and the project manager. I also created and supervised detailed drawings for mock-ups and fabrication. I developed a material database for referencing of various building elements for this project. (Duration- 10 months)

• 1.45 million sqft Residential Development project at Kundrathur: Worked on a tight schedule in a team of five, to convey the project from schematic to design development. (Duration- 1 month).

Worked on high end villas of 9000 square feet each, from concept to execution stage.
Prepared drawing sets for Municipal approval, tender drawings and details and specification for the ESTIDAMA (sustainability assessment of residences) approval.
Preparing drawings with details and specification for the ESTIDAMA (sustainability assessment of the residence) approval. Providing the specifications for 12 points accredit to 1 pearl rating for Villas around Abu Dhabi Municipality. Drawings for ESTIDAMA approval included all approval drawings, list of non-hazardous environmental pollutants as building materials, renewal energy source provision, waste management details, plumbing drawings, details of lighting and water conservation methods.

Writing articles for the Footprint Blog which consists of sustainable events and conference in the city, green products and systems, introduction to green books, sustainable technologies, etc
Attending events, conferences and seminars for the Footprint and gathering information for the posts.
Research on tasks related to the above including contacting right sources of information, reading from other sources, personal interviews, etc
Attend editorial meetings and also help in administrative services related to the magazine
Miscellaneous such as creating competitions for the blog, order newly published sustainability books, search for sustainability events in the city, etc
Most of the data collected for the articles is derived from field visits, personal interviews, attending seminars.

2012 - MSc Dissertation: How Energy Efficient are Biomimetic Facades in conditioning the interior Thermal Environment for Office buildings in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
The dissertation was about the performance test of a thermal envelope and energy efficiency for an office building in Sheffield whose façade cladding material was inspired by the insulatory nature of the composition of penguin feathers.
